New system Win7 x64. swapped out the Asus Z77 motherboard with an Intel DH77EB board BIOS 0100, reinstalled windows clean, all current Intel drivers RST 12.5.0.1066. Intel 335 SSD. Same thing, shuts down when in sleep mode.

051513-6193-01.dmp 5/15/2013 11:26:00 PM DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE 0x0000009f 00000000`00000003 fffffa80`070c2a10 fffff800`04bef3d8 fffffa80`06c05010 ntoskrnl.exe ntoskrnl.exe+75c00 x64 ntoskrnl.exe+75c00

I just tried the RST 12.6.0.1033 and the computer will not sleep at all. I had to uninstall the SSD Toolbox because it doesn't seem compatible with the 12.6 RST drivers.

At this point, no Intel RST installed and PC is sleeping, will wait for Unexpected Shutdown?, ran the SF Diagnostic tool with no RST installed.

The issue is sleep/hibernate related. As yours a desktop PC, hibernation is not any must there. Disable it following http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/819-hibernate-enable-disable.html

The BSOD is caused by intel RST drivers.

Lately the RST drivers are facing stability issue. I would suggest you to uninstall RST. Get rid of intel rapid storage. First uninstall it from Control Panel > Programs and Features. Then Uninstall the driver from device manager.

  1. Right click on "my computer" icon and click "manage" on the context menu.
  2. It will open the "computer management" window.
  3. Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
  4. Expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
  5. Select one Intel device item under it, right click, uninstall.
  6. Continue the process for all Intel items under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
  7. Now restart the computer. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate native system driver.
If you are using RAID in BIOS, disable it.

For an extra caution, scan the system for possible virus infection with the following programs.

Also make it sure that your intel INTEL SSDSC2CT180A4 is running with the latest firmware.
Intel® High Performance Solid-State Drive — Update your Intel® SSD Firmware using the Intel® Solid-State Drive Toolbox

Last night I uninstalled the RST drivers, rebooted and left the PC in Sleep mode all night, no shutdown, no problem.

Under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers I have:
ATA Channel 1-5 - Driver: 6.1.7601.17514 02/25/2006
Intel Series 7/C216Chipset Family SATA AHCI Contorller 1E02 - Driver: 9.3.0.1027 2/25/2013

This was from the Intel Chipset Drivers?

With the 12.6.0.1066 RST PC will not sleep.

With 12.5.0.1066 I get the Unexpected Shutdown BSOD, It does take time for the error, overnight is a good test.

I have not disabled Hibernation yet, I may try that with both the 12.5 and 12.6 RST drivers. I really just wanted to confirm it is something with the RST drivers first.

Thanks again!

If you want to experiment, you are most welcome. It will give you a better insight to the drivers you use.

But what we have experienced that other than the version released on 6th July 2012, all the latest RST drivers are suffering from stability issue. Dont know why, but lately intel revoked that aforesaid driver from their site. So we are suggesting to uninstall RST, as per our debugging experience. If you can add any new knowledge, it will be highly appreciated.

TBH, as per the data you uploaded the last time, though RST was the failing module, but the AHCI driver in use was the system native msahci.sys, not iastor.sys.
Code:
Name Intel(R) 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller - 1E02
Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\[COLOR=Red]msahci.sys[/COLOR] (6.1.7601.17514, 30.38 KB (31,104 bytes), 11/20/2010 7:23 PM)
In that situation, the good thing that might be tested is to disable RAID, IMO.

Let us know your findings. :)

RST was not installed when I ran the SF Diagnostic tool originally. Should I install them and run the SF Diagnostic Utility again?

Do you know the exact version of the RST drivers released on 6th July 2012? I may have those to try.

Thanks again

It is 11.2.0.1006, but it is no longer there in intel's download page.

If you use the generic msahci.sys, you will not loss anything but will gain stability only. Any version of RST may fail, but msahci.sys never fails.

I haven't had any issues since I disabled hibernation. I will wait a couple more days before I close this, but looks solved.

Why does this enable on some systems and not on others?

That's not usual, definitely. If you update the SF diag tools output, we may search for the reason.

But it is a fact that sleep is not anything necessary for a desktop PC. Better you keep it disabled.

I have SSD Toolbox installed, and no firmware update for this drive. It is current.

have current, very latest USB 3.0 Drivers
1.0.8.251.

I disabled hibernation a few days ago, I have no Hiberfile.sys now. That helped a lot, and I thought that fixed it, I have no more BSOD after powercfg -h off.

Using Intel RST 12.0.7.1002 I found here: Station-Drivers: le site de drivers, bios, firmwares avec un forum d'aide

The PC did not shut off last night in sleep mode, if it does again, I will uninstall RST for good.

Thank you again for all the help.
