Hi!
I connected my desktop to my vaio using a cross-over cable. I have set the ip adresses 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3 and connected to a homegroup. My desktop runs windows7 x86 and my vaio windows7 x64. File sharing is ok and i can view both computers on the workgroup, the only problem is that the network resets itself every restart. I have an Unidentified connection mark on my LAN connection on both computers and everytime i restart i have to set back both computers to a Home network. After restart the network is set to Work. Can someone tell me how can i fix this ?
Thank you!

Ad-hoc networks don't stick after a reboot. It's the nature of the beast, afaik.

What do you mean by ad-hoc network?

Hi Lomai!
Thank you for your reply!
I allready setup my network, it works fine. My only problem is that everytime i restart i need to set both cards to Home type network again. When i login to windows the network type is set to Work. And i always see the Unidentified Network message and the yellow exclamation mark. Dunno how to fix this :)

I have first created the homegroup without entering the static ip's. With the ip's entered i could not find the created homegroup on one of the computers. But without the ip's i cannot see the other computer on the network... I can only see the other computer if i enter the ip's and i set the network type to Home

An ad-hoc network is a temporary network. When you connect two computers together, without using a router, this is the type of communication that Windows uses. Because it is temporary, any reboot will cause the settings to be dropped.
