A while back I installed Microsoft's FixIt for CVE-2013-3893 on my computers to protect against an active zero day exploit. Microsoft billed it as a temporary fix until they released the official solution through Windows Update, which they did. My question is, for this issue specifically, and generally, when Windows Update pushes out an update does that override Microsoft's fix it? In other words do I have to go back to each computer now and uninstall the FixIt or does the official update handle that automatically? If you know the answer can you please cite a source.

Thanks!

It's my understanding that when a permanent update is released it will automatically detect and uninstall/disable any temporary Fixits. I can't cite any specific sources other than my own personal experiences installing Fixits in the past, then installing permanent updates on top of the Fixits will no ill effects.

I guess if you'd rather not take a chance you could go back to the Fixit website and disable it yourself.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I asked Neil Sikka from Microsoft on Twitter and he says an uninstall is not necessary.
