I just baught a completely new and a good one laptop... installed win 7 and it sucks big time, never seen anything crash so much in my entire life. My patience has ended and im going back to vista at least till the REAL win 7 comes out <_<
But nooo it wont even let me reinstall to vista <_<
Keeps telling me aint enough space in temporary files. So i went to control panel and put the internet temp files up to 1024 it still tells me not enough space <_< and its giving me some sort of error if i try to boot from cd...
Any ideas? I wana get rid of it before it screws my comp up!

Edit: The error it gives wheni boot from cd is:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the problem.

Tells me to inset win instal cd and go to repair your computer.

Info: File is possibly corrupt. Its header checksum does not match the computed checksum.

file: windows\system32\boot\winload.exe

ok ok, easy way out, chuck the Vista disc in the CD tray, restart the computer, boot from disc, format the entire drive, install Vista onto the Drive.

Voila.

How about, where to go to format the pc wout puting vista cd in? Cuz it aint working....

You just bought a new laptop and ... installed what the RC over Vista as an upgrade? It's not 7 seeing the problems but it's simply not ready at this point to upgrade over any preinstalled version of Windows.

Your laptop should have the full restore option that wipe the primary and bring everything back to factory. The manual if the option to create a set of recovery disks is provided will explain how to go about that where you simply reformat the active primary while leaving the hiddden recovery partition untouched for a complete Vista reinstall.

With the 500gb drive as seen in your system info points to is in the laptop the best way to have seen 7 go on would have been shrinking the factory primary down and creating a second smaller primary for 7. Then you would have seen better results with a dual boot setup.

have you tried setting the bios to boot from DVD/CD tray before HDD?, there's no way, i dont think that an OS can stop a CD/DVD booting.

Perhaps if you list the problems like not seeing board and other drivers installed that might help in getting 7 screaming right past Vista there. I've most versions right through Vista and find 7 a large improvement like most here have already found out for themselves.

What i am doing:
1. Inserted vista cd
2. rebooted
3. it asks me to press any key to boot from cd/dvd
4. pressed any key
5. message: windows is loading
6.windows failed to start and the error message i described in first post.

win 7 problems: crashes on most anything ive installed and tried to run xept drivers.
most stuff i use doesnt even work on it.
install files get "corrupt" message at random times, it does install after several tries with the same files <_<
Look i dont give a damn abt win 7 i just need a non crashing OS that is all.

BUM-BOW. That dont sound healthy, maybe this can float ya boat :

That will wipe you entire HDD clean, and then you should have a error free install.

When booting from the Vista dvd you simply go into the drive tools section found there and select the format option to wipe any partition. That will see the RC removed as well.

*p.s. and seriously, i also dont have the time to fix all the win 7 problems just to get 2 new ones once one is sort of sorted out. I wanted to try out the 7. ... it looks nice and all, but i really regret installing it.

Until then once you have Vista back on or before that even why not shrink the intended Vista primary down a 100gb which can also be used as a backup partition later in order to try a dual boot the second time around. I think once you have a little coaching on this you won't find the RC as troublesome.

Just an observation having removed both XP and Vista here to run the new XP mode and Vista on the the new Virtual PC beta as well.

Sounds like to me that the drive just will not read the disk so far or the disk is partly damaged (bad from factory?)

If the drive is found bed that would explain a bad install of 7 being seen as well. Yet you may have seen a bad burn of the iso itself to disk used.

The hard drive is divided in 2 parts. drive c is 50 GB and then the rest...

(but it still lacks some gb wich i cant understand where they went)

C drive is 50 gb and E drive is 415 gb....

the documents of purchase state 500GB HDD, i cant figure out where the 35gb are...

Some of that 35GB will be in formatting overhead - when a disk is formatted, there's a certain amount of spaced need by the OS to keep track of things. How much is reserved for this overhead is driven, in large part, by the formatting options chosen.

Win7, during the install process, allocates a small amount (about 100MB) to a system/boot partition that you can't see from within the O/S (except from within the disk management tool).

Where the rest of your 35GB went .... I don't know.

Ye i did read the dban forums... it says;


If DBAN instantly kicks out to this error message, then it doesn't have a driver for your laptop computer. Provide manufacturer and model information for this computer.

The latest public DBAN release does not have an easy way to get the log file if the computer does not have a legacy floppy drive.

Well at least the dban gave me an idea, i just got WipeDrive, am running it, and whatdya know it seems to work!
Il get back with feedback if it solves it or no!

A 500gb drive is calculated with decimal units of measurement while Windows uses the binary units of measurement instead. A 500gb drive should see 465gb available once partitioned and formatted.
