Solved Uninstalled Adobe Flash Player - YouTube Still Works Fine

Against my better judgement, I went to update the Firefox Flash plugin. After it installed, the old player and the new player were listed as plugins. Tried the "never activate", etc with no success. Decided to totally uninstall Flash and start over. Deleted all Macromedia and flash folders in both Administrator and User accounts. Went through the registry and deleted everything there also.
Went to YouTube and tried to play a video. Got a message saying "would you like to play this content" or similar words. Well, the content played just fine. Did Airpano and all of its content also played.
How is the content playing if Flash is not installed ? Is the totally unsecure Flash actually needed ?

to get the best quality on an image it is best to have Flash Player installed and if you play games or watch videos on the internet it requires you to have Flash Player installed

For full removal of flash player I'd usually make use of the removal tool from Adobe and delete any leftovers after running it. That's something that I do every time there's an update available. As for playing video on YouTube - some videos can play without a plugin usually html5 content.

Flash isn't that insecure if you keep it updated and remove the old versions. You can also enable Click to Play Per Element in Firefox so that flash is activated only for the content that you choose.

Actually I use it on Cyberfox but here's the info:

Restore "Click to Play" ability of per-element for Firefox 24 and above.

The following must be configured:

In about:config "plugins.click_to_play" must be "true".

In about:addons (plugins page) required plugin must be "Ask to activate".

To enable the plugin on the page and not the whole website by clicking the "Allow Now" button from urlbar plugin icon in about:config "plugin.sessionPermissionNow.intervalInMinutes" set it to 0 (zero)

YouTube may have been playing via HTML5 which doesn't require Flash.

Added: YouTube started using HTML5 last year, I think. Flash used to be the only game in town so to speak. During the development of HTML5, you started noticing better security and more frequent updates from Adobe for Flash. They now make an effort to keep Flash secure. This is because HTML5 can make Flash unnecessary if the site codes for it.

Right click on the YouTube window and the bottom entry of the menu that appears will show the player that is being used. Flash or HTML5.
