Solved Unknown Desktop Icon-MPWD File (.mpwd)-Has Suddenly Shown Up

I can't remove the icon and haven't a clue as to what it's supposed to represent.
It appears every single time I use Internet Explorer 11 so it appears to be tracking me.
I Googled MPWD and found that it's associated with Apple.
I don't own, nor have ever owned, any Apple device, or downloaded anything to do with Apple.
I erase the icon when it appears, but every time I use I.E. it pops right back up.
Also, if I don't erase it, it's replicated every time I use I.E. making multiple desktop icons.
I've checked its attributes but can't find it on any of my SSD's or HDD's.
It's more than aggravating now, I think it may be a serious security risk.
Any ideas exactly what it may be and how to get rid of it?

Thanks, but how and why would it appear on my desktop all of a sudden?
I built this computer less than 6 months ago, and, again, have never had anything to do with any Apple product.
I just checked and found I bought this motherboard on Nov. 13, 2013. I never, ever reuse any components when building a new computer. I don't even reuse the OS disk and always buy a new copy of Windows every single time. I've just never believed in copying and using a system image in a new computer.
When something new and unwanted suddenly pops up in any of my computers I instantly think "virus". Don't you?

Download DDS from one of these links:
Mirror 1 Mirror 2 Mirror 3

• Disable any script blocking protection
• Double click the dds icon to run the tool.
• When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
  1. DDS.txt
  2. Attach.txt
• Save both reports to your desktop.

Include the contents of both logs in your next post reply.
The scan will instruct you to post Attach.txt as an attachment.


Post both .txt reports.

I clicked on one of the links but didn't download whatever it is.
I just don't download unknown programs.
I don't know what "script blocking protection" is, either.
Firewall or A/V? Something else? I Googled it but still don't know what it is.
When I build my computers, I just pop in a new OS disk, select default settings, or whatever it says, and then leave it alone. Install my A/V and keep everything updated. Run frequent A/V scans, run Microsoft Security Scanner once a month, and let Windows backup save whatever it thinks is best.
You know, like most people.
I just don't know what all the acronyms people think everybody understands actually mean.

DDS means 'doesn't do squat', other than show me what's going on with your computer at startup ...just as Computer0304 said.

Thanks. I just needed to know what it is. You can't be too careful these days when seemingly everybody on the planet wants complete access to all your info.

Do you use LastPass on IE? If so, that's what's putting the mpwd file on your desktop.

Download CKScanner by askey127 from HERE
Important - Save it to your desktop.
Doubleclick CKScanner.exe (right click to run as Administrator using Win 7 ) click Search For Files.
After a very short time, when the cursor hourglass disappears, click Save List To File.
A message box will verify the file saved.
Double-click the CKFiles.txt icon on your desktop and copy/paste the contents in your next reply.
