Solved unknown device

Recently built a pc. I have no "unknown" devices installed. Everything in device mgr i recognize. These yellow exclamations are total 3 and are under "other devices" and are in the location of PCI bus 0, device 16, function 0. I have a nividia video card installed in this slot and drivers are loaded. So I am unsure what to do. Yes I have searched for drivers off the mobo disk (asus F1 A75-V pro) and it comes up "windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device" and it is for AMD usb 3.0 host controller. I have that driver on the install CD, have removed and reinstalled and no help.

As the disks supplied with hardware are made in batches and the drivers are in a continuous state of development you may be better served if you go to the manufacturer's website to check for later drivers than those on the disk. This is especially true of current new technologies such as USB3.

Whilst you are on the site check the other drivers on the disk for later versions

there is only 2 it could have fit in, and i put in the blue slot entitled pcie 2.0 x16.

this is the 2nd time i've went though full installation. 1st board was bfs. returned and installed new. got everything installed, with a reformated hhd and get these 3 device messages. when i had this all running before, i had no issues. along with the unkown device message, my internet will get kicked off, after maybe 5 minutes. i restart and it works, then again goes away. i used the driver install disk originally with no issues.

something comes to mind (while i am not with this pc at the moment) i'm pretty sure i have installed my mouse and keyboard in the usb 3 areas, and they are working normally. however, could this me the problem for "unknown devices"?
i can try this when i get home.

mmm... strange. what exactly do you mean with a "area"...
It should not be a problem to connect a usb (any usb) device in a external blue USB 3 receptor.
It could however be a prob if you did not get the right drivers...

sorry..."area" as in the blue usb 3 ports. the only drivers i installed were from the supplied disk, which i had previously installed before. (with the previous mobo) strange. i must be doing something wrong. i'll try to update what drivers i have. i downloaded a drivers programs that search for missing and outdated drivers. i have to work with this after i get some sleep.

Due to the way that USB is designed, to be backwards compatible, even without specific drivers for USB3 win7 should use it's basic built in drivers to give at least basic USB access.

To be honest, I've never found that the Driver finder programs are that good.

I find that you still have to research, drivers and source them yourself (I include windows update in this ).

I tend to not even use the supplied disk with a new build, (except for network drivers to temporarily get on-line), Drivers are in constant development, and I find that the manufacturer's site (System or Motherboard), provide a much more reliable source. If that fails I check the manufacturer of the actual hardware (especially true for Video and Sound), will provide the latest drivers, although they may not include the added extras that system manufacturers provide, (not always a bad thing )

ok, i'll post back this afternoon, after i get some shut eye. thx for the help.

someone elsewhere had me download an update set of drivers for the amd video catalyst. it must not have been complete, because i did an install directly from the disk and those problems were resolved. thx for helping. now, onto the other problems...follow my thread of "default gateway issue" if you want to enjoy some more head banging
