And troublesome. Yeap as far as voltage control and variables I've tested most of the safe ones and borderline safe. 1.35 is the current one that does not crash out of games for the cpu.

Will attempt to find it in the bios. I've looked up AI Suite 2 and many were trying to disable it through winstartup.

The 4R7 Inductor seems to have its top a tad chipped off.

Took a closer look at the mobo this time around and noticed the ferite is chipped off.

This is not the mobo but it shows what it roughly looks like.

Is this your board? If that component is chipped you should contact ASUS...they will probably say it's your fault. Also try the seller.

Yeah that's the one. I'm glad there's some progress as of the last 2 days. I won't worry so much since I made logs since day of purchase until now. Also finally managed to get beeps from the mobo. 1 long 3 short. Will try slotting in another 7970 dcu2t in place of the current and redo psu connections.

edit:

one ram at a time did not force a bsod so now i've started on using 2 at a time. much testing done and i've seperated 2 pieces that doesn't work well together. here are what they created when they are installed and paired in ch a1 and ch d1. comp is much smoother now albeit the need to reformat as soon as this is settled to clear out everything else and start fresh fully functional and hopefully even smoother.

MANAGED TO GET BSOD! .... can't believe i'm saying this but WOOOHOOOView attachment mdmp.rar

Well that was shortlived. Crashed in game but fine otherwise.

Signs of driver failing or hardware failing?

Gotten rid of it :) I'm considering doing a complete wipe. Would that be a good way to troubleshoot?

_________________________________

oh boy. took the whole day to reconfigure everything. removed mobo and the loads and redid wiring too. I found one of the mount / grounding copper-ish golden screws (can't recall what they are called >.<) didn't connect to any screw holes on the mobo so instead of 9 points of contact i had 10 one of which wasn't supposed to be there.

*here's to hoping for results* cheers.

One of the holes in the motherboard could be a guide pin hole. If so make sure the pin is in the hole or it could hit the motherboard and cause problems such as; miss alignment of the I/O panel, short to ground, and twisting of the motherboard.

ah not that one. had a bad experience with making that mistake once before. a costly one >.<. was referring to the stand-offs. one of them wasn't a screw spot so i'm guessing that was probably screwing up the grounding some-what.

it lasted for a good hour of gaming before it froze up again. definitely an improvement.

Yeah worse thing is everyone suggested reseating the components and that was the one thing I overlooked xD. Impatience is really our worse enemy. How did you notice your extra standoff? I'm a tad disappointed with the RIVE though. Packaging said eatx but it had regular 9 standoff screw holes as per the atx.

Hello,

Here are my specs to begin:

i7 3930k
ASUS Rampage IV Extreme - Bios 3010 post CAP Convertor
32 GB (XMP) 4x4 2 sets. - XMP Profile 1866 - 1.65V

HD 7970 ASUS DCU2T

Corsair Force GT 120GB
WD Cav Black Sata 6 1 TB

CM Cosmos 2 (Not sure about this but I'm suspecting the chassis as well with its layout)
1200w CM Silent Gold PSU

Win 7 64 Ultimate

Pre-posting this topic notes:

- Day 1 problem - 00 Debug Code - No Boot - No On-screen display (solved with reinstalling the parts)

- Day 1 problem - Random freezes

- Month and a half ago, PSU went kaput from what may be a surge

- To test damage, powered on the pc and all was running well.

- Removed PSU and sent for RMA

- Got a new set a few days back

- Rules out PSU issue

After installing and running with new PSU

- Update UEFI BIOS with Cap-Convertor

- Bios upgraded to 3010 RIVE non-custom

- Issue persists.

- Freezes are random still

- Freezes can be delayed by toying around with DIGI+ Power Control

- 00 Debug if restarted after freeze without removing power source

- Unplugging for 5 seconds results in regular boot procedure. AE > AA (select mode > boot)

- All parts are as is as it was in day 1 with the exception of PSU (RMA'ed)

Most Common Freezes

- Whilst Gaming

- When Chassis is Shaked (not always)

- When removing Wireless Adapter from front USB Panels (Chassis)

- When transfering Wireless Adapter USB Ports from 2.0 to 3.0 and vice versa.

Non Gaming / Intensive Status:

- No crashes until I start multi tasking (simple music + ms office + spidertracks)

- Sometimes it doesn't crash at all.

Tests done:

Prime
Burn
FurMark

- Before PSU was RMA'ed

- Lost result data

- Didn't shut down or freeze during those as far as I can remember.

I'm really baffled at this point. Prior to this there was a 1 week worth of pure good gaming experience without crashes even when it was at 4.5 GHz OC'ed with DIGI+ set to 400 frequencies for memory and some voltage tweaks.

I do hope to solve this issue before further RMA'ing any parts. It takes forever over here.

Thank you for reading this and do let me know if I can do anything to assist or provide.

Regards,

Shawn

This is a high end desktop you are describing. I recommend the small issues to be addressed. Replace your AC power strip with new. If you use a UPS battery backup and it is approaching 3 years old replace it with new. You would be surprised how many problems like you have described can be cured doing this. In other words- all new power connections from your computer back to the AC wall plug. Bypass your UPS if necessary. I have seen bad/questionable AC path connections cause exactly the same problems you have described in this thread.
