Unlock ALL Versions in your Windows 7 Build 7000 ISO

1. Make a copy of your .iso for safe keeping..
2. Open the .iso in ultraISO
3. Browse to the "sources" folder
4. Remove the file "ei.cfg"
5. Save the .iso
6. Burn at 2x
7. Enjoy

Now when you install you will get a choice of home basic, home premium, business, or ultimate

There are one or two sources, here is one if you follow it through:

But, I did have the options on my release. It made me investigate a few sites. It may be that you need to do a total new install. Possibly, if you have a previous (maybe Vista, certainly 7) OS on your computer, it will read the signature and automatically install that edition.
I installed on a totally clean computer, which I have for that purpose.
If that feature is to be included in future releases, I can see some difficulties ahead for multi users in commerce.

Or, put your 7000 dvd in the drive, right click on dvd drive , copy and paste contents to e.g. Documents.



Open Sources folder, and there it is



edit as you like, then use an app. e.g. vlite to pick up the files and make a new bootable .iso.

Or you could maybe use vlite to do the job.

vLite does not work for selecting the version, i tried this long before the method i posted...

Though i still have to test if removing components works.....

You could however just simply change the text in that file from "Ultimate" ro "Business" etc etc...

And as for the people asking what is the point of <Ultimate, i see none.. I just found this interesting and would rather have the option than not when installing

Oh and i found it by reading about removing the file on another forum then just testing and explaining how i done it

Hi,

Yes I haven't tried changing the edition of 7000 with vlite - that's why I said maybe.

Should be able to edit if you copy to the desktop as per my previous post - if you don't have a copy of Ultraiso.

I have vlited 6801 successfully though. It's activated and been running fine for quite a while.

I didn't change the edition - but did remove a lot of Components , like Media centre , Speech, ease of access, Tablet pc, etc. Also removed a couple of services e.g. Parental Controls.

Not sure if it's a good idea to mess with UAC as it's different from Vista, but the components weren't a problem.

Oh and before anybody asks why - just to see if it worked is the answer.

Keep us posted on anything you find Win 7.

Its interesting that the component removal worked, i may try building a lite version of 7000, see how small i can get it

I have seen a lite copy floating around the net also, but i can't confirm it works... it was of the 6956 build and about 1.5GB.

I heard that the beta keys do not work on any other version of windows 7, except for the ultimate version. Is this true? If I wanted to install the home premium version, how long would it last?
