I just got a HP desktop with Window 7 pre-installed, however, it took about 10 minutes for the starting up the computer. Is it reasonable for Window 7 operating system or there is somethnig wrong with it? If Yes, how can I fix it/them? Thanks!

I think this would be a security problem.

Boot your computer up, and click or tap-repeatedly F8.
Go to Safe Mode with Network (Something similiar)
Then open up your browser, and visit this link: Windows LIVE OneCare Scanner
If the scanner detects something, you have viruses/malware/spyware/trojans etc.

Hope this helps out.

Type msconfig in the search box and go to the startup tab.

Post a screen cap or tell us what items in that tab have a checkmark.

HP loads tons of crap on your system'
'Go to Start > Run, type msconfig and uncheck everything except your ant-virus,
'
If there stuck you with Norton, I'd remove that as well.

Normally, it should take about one minute, or a little longer.

Anything interesting in Event Viewer? Could be hardware or software.

Did you overwrite Vista (getting a windows.old folder in your Win7 root), or create a dual boot Win7-Vista?

Can you describe where the startup hangs in particular?

Study the Event Viewer Administrative view for errors,

then click through WEI score link on Computer>Properties page to Advanced tools and generate a System Health report, also study the diagnostics logs for startup delay errors. Google these to troubleshoot; post back suspects.

When we start our comps

& it says CLCIK ANY BUTTUON TO BOOT FROM Dvd/Cd
there it gets Stuck

Then I have to Force Shut down & take out battery & then restart :(

then it loads to desktop screen

When I try run Disk Cleanup & try to restart then again it gets stuck
have to take out battery to get to desktop cos gets stuck

See attachment for Health Report

Sounds like you have a failed in place upgrade install.

Boot from the DVD and select Custom install, then used Advanced Drive tools to delete the entire HD, repartition as you wish, then format before install.

This will wipe the slate and give you the cleanest possible install, instead of the mess you have.

You'll need to back up your files first and gather your installers/disks as programs must be resinstalled, but now is the time if there ever was one.

I would have taken gregrocke advice as it wouldn't have taken so long and you would not have the problem you have now,

Those card drivers are always on the manufacturer's Support Downloads page for your model.

Or Google it to get it correctly installed.

If not, google the error to resolution.
