I need some help DE-crypt which of the following is a motherboards chipset driver ? Is it any of the ones in bold ?

The requested info may help, helping you. Nothing else. What can possibly be the reason to hide what components you PC are made of? Did Aliens build it in Area51 or some? DOD hardware?

Installer is probably the version of the setup software that delivers the driver.
SMU is related to nvidia nForce graphics driver
WHQL is short for Windows Hardware Quality Labs which is a hardware certification by Microsoft.
DE, I do not know. Not whitout knowing more about your Motherboard.

After checking this a bit, all that list are the components of the driver installation for an Nvidia (nForce?) graphics card. Now it took me 15 minutes to find out something you could have told us immediately. Where do I send my bill?

Installer (v5.40) is installer version 5.40
SMU (v1.23) WHQL is SMU version 1.23 WHQL
DE Driver (v6.91) "WHQL" is Delaware Driver version 6.91

See what happens... if you won't help, you get answers, but they're not much help and in the case of my reply not very useful or accurate.

I know that you're only asking vocabulary questions, but some members asked you to provide additional information. You resisted. It's not as if they were asking for personal information - then I too would say "For what reason do you need that! You're not going to get anything from me."

I need the extracted chipset driver and it appears that the Installation CD (nForce 680i v9.53b) doesn't include it on the CD.

None of the ones listed are the chipset driver. Since you know the chipset, why are you looking on some old CD? Those are good for beverage coasters and that's it. Go to Nvidia and get the driver directly.

As for system specs, I may be a bit frustrated by this, but I never understand how someone owns a computer but doesn't know what's in it. How else would you ever decided if it was a good computer and worth what you paid for it? Filling out your system specs should take 1-2 minutes, if that, and it's revealing anything private. We can't steal your identity by knowing what motherboard you have.

We're here to help, but if you can't be bothered to put in some minor effort, how do you expect others to put any in to help?

SMBUS should be the chipset drivers.

Can you post an exact link to NVIDIAS site to the driver that meet you hardware spec?
Then we can look at it and perhaps extract the relevant inf files.

So here is what you do:
1. Run the installation until it has upacked the drivers to default directory
2. Cancel the installation
3. Go to default directory: C:\NVIDIA\nForceWin7Vista64Int\15.58\SMBUS
4. There are the unpacked drivers.

Note: if you change the default directory, the drivers will be in the directory you changed it to.

It's not that it's a matter of if it's official. Its if it's a matter that if need specifically the chipset driver, those drivers will work. What makes you so sure ?

Well, my outpout is dependant on your input.
You claim it is for a motherboard, yet link to a graphic card.
However, both Nvidia and AMD have Southbridge chipsets for Motherboards, and they are often bundled with the graphic card drivers, lately.

But if you also provide the exact type (manufacturer and model) of your motherboard, I may be even more certain.
Ususally the worst thing that happens (with W7) is that it tells you that the driver is wrong for that hardware.
