unusual problem I've never encountered before

So lately my pc has been acting up and I have no idea what's going on. So it's been fine all day been running fine and then I went down stairs for dinner watched the seahawks and came back upstairs. I tried listening to a .wav file and I got an execution error. I tried to open firefox to search for a solution aaaaand it won't open. Of course. I try ro open up task manager and I got another error. Tried going into control panel and there is nothing there. It's s totally blank. I restarted my computer and it said configuring windows. Never done that before. I did just instal updates two days ago, could that be it? Or is this some sort of pain in my neck virus? Thanks in advance.

Can you boot into windows Safe Mode & do a system restore to a few days ago ?

If Safe Mode won't work to run System Restore, Malwarebytes and your AV scans, followed by SFC /SCANNOW Command,

you'll need to work from boot mode using these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start.

Yes I can boot in safe mode and I have run all types of malware, spyware, and antivirus programs. When I restarted this time I started normally. And everything worked. until today it started it again. It's completely random it seems. However I think it could be firefox? when I closed it this morning it started again. Restarted computer and now it's okay again for now.
