Solved Unwanted startup account

I Had to uninstall the ATi drivers from my machine this pm to test a NVidia card. Now I watched (foolishly in hindsight) a video on how to do this and during this video it advised that in regedit one had to type "NET ADMINISTRATOR /ACTIVE:YES" now I knew no better so carnied on and now when I power up the machine I get an Administrator account and my original one.

So being the smart person I am I ran that instruction only typing NO at the the end thinking it would revert back to just my own personal account - WRONG!!

So can someone tell me how to get rid of that annoying start up feature please?

Go to your computer management console. Then local users and groups. Then select users. Right click on administrator. Go to properties. Put a checkbox in account is disabled..

No matter what edition, you should be able to use the command line:

Home Premium F5 and I have found that feature may only be a Pro or Ultimate feature - from what I can make out anyway.

Re-read my prior post -- there's an addition. BTW, you should have been successful with that command; it had to have been a typo, or not from an elevated command prompt, or something...

And, yeah, that's why local users and groups isn't available.

One thing I'd do while you have it enabled is to go ahead and establish a secure password for it, then disable it. Just for security...

Ooops F5 sorry my friend I completely missed that I'll give it a go but as I said the tutorial mentions what I did in my original post. I just reversed the command but it is still there but anyway I'll try again - thanks.

I found what I did wrong I missed typing "user" into that command line so I was doing the right thing first up but not paying enough attention

- Was trying to install two other machines with security and well I should listen to my mate who constantly tells me to take things slower

Thanks T already tried that my friend - it didn't work so I guess the only way for Home Premium is the command prompt way. But hey thanks for the interest.

I was able to do it on my Home Premium 64 Bit SP1 install, but if he did the command prompt way that is cool too.

Maybe it is something regional, like the "N" or "K" or whatever version or something like that. I've never seen it on any HPs I've messed with in the past. Or maybe some update enables it? Haven't looked in a while, but a quick check on the HP I'm using right now doesn't show it, and it's fully updated.
