My laptop charger burned out and I'm looking to buy a replacement. I've found several that have a matching "model" number, but the UP/N number is slightly different.
I have also found some that have the same model and UP/N numbers, but the charger looks super generic.

Amazon.com: UpBright® NEW AC/DC Adapter For System76 Pangolin Chicony A10-090P3A A10090P3A UP/N: A090A059L Power Supply Cord Cable PS Charger Input: 100 - 240 VAC 50/60Hz Worldwide Voltage Use Mains PSU: Electronics

Amazon.com: EPtech AC / DC Adapter For System76 Pangolin Chicony A10-090P3A A10090P3A UP/N: A090A059L Charger Power Supply Cord PSU: Electronics

Amazon.com: Original Laptop Ac Adapter Chicony for gateway 19v4.74a 90W 5.5x2.5 Solo 400 600 2500 4535GZ 5350 9300 2200 450ROG 9500 400SD 5300LS A10-090P3A: Electronics

The Upbright and EPTech have the same model and UP/N numbers, but look generic. The Chicony one has the same model number, but a slightly different UP/N number. However, my original charger is also a Chicony and looks exactly like that one. I also prefer it because it has the 90 degree angle at the end (same as my old/broken one). But, the different UP/N number is putting me off.

Basically, what's the significance of UP/N? I can't find anything about it when I google it. Does anyone know?

Thanks for reading.

The latest issue with Notebooks and some All-in-Ones is with the power adapter being wrong or incorrectly identified by the computer. I think we'll see more of it as time goes on. What Dell has to say is that the misidentification causes the power to be cut down "to prevent damage to the computer". If the plug on the adapter has a center pin it is required the plug be firmly in the socket, that pin is a bit shorter than the other metal parts of the plug. I saw the problem on a 2-week old AIO and because of moving it around the plug pulled out just enough to cause the issue. I've heard of the need in a few cases to update the BIOS to make the adapter identify properly.

Thanks for your reply. However, my initial question remains unanswered. What is UP/N?

The P/N most likely stands for Part Number but even Google Search didn't find anything definitive for UP/N. Maybe U stands for Uniform or Universal or Unknown or Uninformed?
