I have the same thing as well.

I think I have narrowed it down to four Win security updates I installed .

kb2555917, kb2532531, kb2507938, kb2552343..

I noticed that just after installing these updates the side by side you mention started to occur.

Guess it might be worthwhile to try and remove each one separately and then monitor the event viewer for a day to see if the error goes away.

I notice on my notification it adds the additional information about the AMD 64 compatible system architecture processor.....but I don't have an AMD processor I've got Intel.

Have you noticed any problems or usability issues since you started getting the error?

I haven't noticed anything problematic with my pc ...yet anyway.

@XenX:

Can you indicate any tangible issues we might have with our computers because of such an error?

I haven't noticed anything at all being a problem since the errors started to occur.

I will try and clear that folder.

Any clue as to why it would be mentioning an AMD 64 processor when I have an Intel powered mobo? Now I do have a ATI graphics card but I can't imagine that would be any relation to the mention of the AMD 64 processor. Right?

Uninstalling previous updates (ie. KB2507938) will eliminate the problem
(through Add/Remove Programs).

Run SFC tool and do a scan if possible.

Is the update you mention the specific one I need to uninstall or should I uninstall all of them?

Just try uninstalling the specific one. And uninstall all related updates if still occurs.

I had the same problem on a fresh install of W7 32-bit after letting Windows Update install a bunch of "fixes". I did not have the problem before all the fixes were installed. I tried uninstalling KB2507938 and it had no positive effect. I then let W7 Update install SP1 and the Side By Side Event 33 Error went away! I have several W7 64-bit systems running but never had the Side By Side problem on these systems. I let Windows Update install patches/fixes automatically on all the systems - maybe not such a good idea?

I wish I could remember now where I saw the answer for this issue.

Actually it was on a MS technet or MS answers from their Korean site.

Somebody called MS and asked about it. They said that this error we find in the event viewer is a "cosmetic fault" and has no actual effect on the functionality of any program at all. MS also commented that this fault will be corrected when you download SP1 for Win 7.

Sorry I can't link to the discussion.

Like I said this was a fresh install of W7 32-bit and MSFT did not offer SP1 untill after all the other updates mentioned above were installed. For some reason this sequence fixed the problem for now. It's MSFT magic again.
