Update Annoyance

Somethings annoying me regarding windows update. For some reason, every time I start my system, I'm informed that there are new updates available via the tray icon, when I click to see, it shows there are no updates available and that all is up to date!! Re-checking updates proves the same.

This happens at every boot and is beginning to irritate, I can't get rid of the update icon in tray, it just sits there, unless I disable updates altogether.

I have it set to notify me but not to download updates automatically.

Build 7000 x64.

Any ideas?

Well this is just a workaround I guess buddy, but just click the little systray arrow that shows hidden icons, select Customize, and set WU to not show icon just notifications. (for now anyway)
Do you have any updates you didn't install and have them hidden? If so that could be the cause too.

Thx Chappy :)

Found out that when you have 'recommended' updates ticked and have them hidden, it bugs you constantly. Unticked that and its fine now :D

I'd prefer if it just remembered you had hidden them though.

Yah...I know. I just install them all now and forget about it. I used to research them all and select only the ones that I thought had anything to do with my setup, but I found out later that some of these also affect functionality in other areas (plus it was a PITA to do that), now I just let it go wild and have no prob with it.
Thanx for the Rep Scaramonga!!
