I'm using Win7 64-bit and I don't want to switch to Win10.

Does anyone have information on how to update after January 14, 2020 after reinstalling computer.
(Possible situation: if I must install a fresh win7 on the my computer).

Option 1
So, around January 10, 2020, download all the update files and save the "wsusoffline" download and save to the archive.
Does 'wsusoffline' work with all update files?

or option 2

Now go to MS site and save to computer any standallone update files?
btw: I mean the basic/security standallone files that don't cover hardware.

Will it be possible to update Win7 for already released files. (not thinking of new updates after end Date)
What do you suggest?

I have been using PCs since the late 70s and have never reinstalled an OS from scratch to solve a problem, so I might not be the best person to respond, but I would recommend that if your computer is working well and up-to-date that you consider instead simply to make image backups of it, using e.g. Acronis True Image, and if you have to reinstall you do so to a much happier place than just fresh Windows.

win7 updates will probably be available for several years.

Easiest way is to keep a copy of the latest Simplix pack

Hi authortag,

There are quite a few threads on this forum that address this question!

There is NOT an immediate problem with users who have Windows 7 an need to reinstall for whatever reason after the EOS [End-Of-Support] in January 2020.

The most important things that you need are . . .

[1] Your Product Key.
[2] The appropriate SSU’s [Servicing Stack Updates].
[3] The most upto drivers for your OS [BIOS, Motherboard, Chipset, Video Adapter, Network Interface Card [NIC], Audio Adapter, Wireless Network Card or LAN Adapter, Touchpad, Mice, Keyboard, Bluetooth, USB drivers etc, and any other hardware device drivers not listed] to a folder [keep a copy of that folder on an external HDD]. If your OS is an OEM you will be able to get these from the manufacturers website.
[4] The SIMPLIX update pack [if applicable] to a folder [keep a copy of that folder on an external HDD].
OR
[5] DISM++ [for WU's].
[6] Export your bookmarks [favourites] for ALL the browsers that you use.
[7] If you have a cloud account, you can upload your files to it.
[8] License keys for any purchaswd somewhere.

etc. etc. etc. I think you get the drift!

I hope this helps!

It is not complicated.

The only things needed:

A copy of the latest Simplix pack.

Your windows license key

Any licenses for your purchased programs. You might also need copies of the program installers if they are no longer made.

Hi guys
Thank you for yours participation in these thread and yours advices.
I plan to download all updates after January 10, 2020 and after that I will make an image of my OS and C partition on my external HDD.

Also, burn everything on a couple of DVDs (duplicate) and put it in my archive tray.
I will also use "wsusoffline" and save it to DVD.
Also, I'll try something from what you advised me.
Thanks again.
Thread is complete for me [SOLVED].
