Update problems - Win 7 PRO 64bit

Hello...

I have posted this before but no one answered it...

I am having a problem with my updates... Everytime I try to install an update for silverlight, Games for windows live and Office add in.. it says the update has failed... I am also having this problem with Update for Adobe flash...

Every other one it updates no problem... I tried resetting the update feature of win 7... but that didnt work...

The error codes are:
Code 6B2
Code 64C

You might try this for the Code 6B2..... Step 1: Download Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

1. Visit:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/E/9/D/E9D80355-7AB4-45B8-80E8-983A48D5E1BD/msicuu2.exe
2. Save the file on the Desktop.
3. Please double click the msicuu2.exe file to install it on the computer.

Step 2: Remove Windows Live Photo Gallery

1. Click Start -> (All) Programs->Windows Installer Clean Up.
2. Please locate and remove Windows Live Photo Gallery.

Step 3: Install latest version of Windows Live Photo Gallery

Please visit the following link and click â??Get it freeâ?? to download the
latest version.

and this for the Code 64C...... SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 is not successfully updated when you try to install or to uninstall a security update

Adobe has released Flash 10.1 I believe Corrine here has posted about his in another forum here.

The problem is not the fact that it cant find updates... coz it can... i think the problem is that the files are somewhat missing or corrupted?

Coz i can find the Silverlight.msi file but the updater says that it is an invalid file... i even tryed to download the new one and update it... no luck...

From your description I think you have only problems with updates for MS software and other whom use Windows Installer service (not with updates strickly for Windows),if yes try both things.

Use this tool Repair & Fix Windows Updates with Fix WU Utility | The Windows Club,if still no effects import to registry this fix for Windows Installer http://www.sevenforums.com/attachments/software/34108d1256972476-windows-installer-v-5-0-7600-16385-issue-msiserv.zip +restart.Unfortunately still there is no official fix for Windows Installer 5.0 for Win 7 -only for 4.5 ,it does not work on 5.0.

Those didnt seem to work but i have done a repair install... we will see what happens

How will i go about removing the silverlight files if i cannot uninstall it? I think that the actual file are corrupted..

It's more sophisticated tool than I thought.It doesn't work automatically



You have to know application GUID to have able to remove something...

But what about this one ? How to fix MSI software update registration corruption issues

Finally, I did a little registry look. Opened up registry(after backup!) did a search for "silverlight.msi" and found it in the following key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT / installer / products / D7314F9862C648A4DB8BE2A5B47BE100
I deleted that key, and also deleted all silverlight folders in programData and program files
restarted, started the silverlight.exe. It installed with no problem and it works! Finally.

After that install silverlight 4 from the link below.

Glad to hear it Nizz, I also had a fix for the office live update problem awhile back for someone. I believe for the office update problem you need to turn the UAC settings off in order for the office live update to install properly. You can turn UAC back on after the update.

I cant do that coz my installer files got all messed up by something.. so is almost non existent.. therefore not allowing me to do anything... therefore i cant uninstall using either method...
