Update repeating with each shutdown

Hi: I've got a problem that just started in the last week or so. I'm running W 7 Pro on an x64 machine. When I shut down I get an "installing update 1 of 1" message. It's now happening each time I shutdown, though it does shut down and doesn't get hung up.

How to I zap this update? I tried to go back to the extent of my System Restore dates, but that didn't fix it -- maybe not far enough back.

Anyway, ideas appreciated!

Thanks,

George

Hello there, have you tried disabling Automatic Updates? and set it to another option.. maybe the one that says "notify me about updates but let me decide whether download and/or update" (something like that) to see if the issue persist :)

Ha! That started me on the right track, then I found this for the update that wasn't installing (KB2160841):

Please try the following steps:

1. Go to Program and Features, click it.

2. Scroll down to Microsoft.Net Framework 4 Client Profile, right click it.

3. It will give you a choice of Uninstall/Change, click it.

4. Then, it will give a choice to Repair it, pick Repair it. It will take about 4-10 minutes to repair (with my PC) your experience may vary.

5. When completed, go to your update center, and update it again.

My PC was able to update the Microsoft.Net Framework 4 Client Profile, after performing the steps. Reboot your PC.

So that solved it. I kept my settings at Ask to update.

Thanks!

George
