Windows 7 forum,
Had a disk problem and had to reinstall windows 7 Home Premium.
Since my installation disk was damaged I used a downloaded iso file.
It installed correctly and I was able to activate it with a legal
product key.

I'm having a problem when I try to update windows or drivers.
Windows starts a searching that never ends. I have tried all the fixes
on the internet with no luck. I can access the internet and download
files.

Any suggestions?

Jerry D.

You can wait 20+ hours and you should get a list of updates...
..or you can install the latest Windows Update Client and the list should come in quicker.

The KB linked to above replaces KB3102810 which claims to fix:
Installing and searching for updates is slow and high CPU usage occurs in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2
Any replacement for KB3102810 should also include the fixes in KB3102810.
