This is something that you do NOT want to do unless you have a lot of experience with doing it. It is very rare that you would need to even consider it, so I would advise against it, in the strongest terms.

If you are looking to update the on-board components, like the video or sound, drivers are available for those for all different motherboards.

some on this forum recommend this because i have problems with my WMA12 and updating your bios is meant to improve you performance
i have a vegas 2 motherboard and i found a update for it my verson is 1001 while

After downloading the file, double-click it and follow the instructions presented on your screen.You will need one empty CD-R(W).

Oh right, I'm with ya, not too sure, but you you can try for nothing, as it seems you need to burn the downloaded files to the disk before hand, so do that, and if the program runs from DVD, great, if not, you know you'll need a CD.

1006 version is the one i want to update to is there any point in updaing to it with the issues fixed

with my computer is windows media player 12 take 1 min to load and freeze from time to time

Go to the manufacturer's site to download the latest version. Trust the manufacturer and be leary of any place else.

The manufacturer provides software and documentation on flashing (writing) the chip used to store their "bios".

Be extremely careful and precise when overwriting a chip's memory.

Mistakes can be disastrous.

That said, I always flash the "bios" when an update is made available. I've never had a disaster and I always follow the directions precisely and first ask the manufacturer if I have the slightest question regarding their flash procedure.

If you are upgrading to a newer CPU,
Such as you had a 65NM and want a 45nm, then you'll likely need this bios update.

If you are not upgrading your CPU, and are having no other problems it specifically lists:
Updating the Bios is only taking a risk for no gain. Its not going to help anything.

This looks more like a bios update to support CPUs under a newer architecture.


If you want to update them anyway, or need too, I highly suggest flashing with a USB drive OUTSIDE of Windows.

Theres always a risk, but software from within Windows increases the risk greatly. Especially if that software is not designed to run in Windows 7.

I'd say so, but it's ultimately up to you, and if you don't feel confident doing it, then don't, but if you do, make sure to back up the original first.

Maybe y'all shouldn't be talking someone into something he's not sure how to do, especially since it could disable his machine if it gets done wrong.
