Updated GTX260 GPU drivers - 2 days of BSOD!

Hi all,

I come with my tail between my legs and a begging bowl for advice...and old story on i'm sure I have tried everything I can think of and have followed every bit of advice I could find. Here's the story...

I have a home build PC: Asus P6T2 Deluxe V2, 12GB (6x2) identical DDR3, i7 920, 650W PSU, GTX 260 Gainward GS GPU (896MB) in a CM sniper case, Corsair H70 water cooled. It has been running like a dream for 12 months now with only 1 BSOD when establishing a safe & stable OC at 3.6 Ghz with super cool temps all round - the BSOD came after 10 hours running Prime95 @ 4.0 Ghz, so I resorted back to a safe OC.

2 days ago I updated my GTX 260 GPU drivers, from the official NVidia homepage...and all went well, until 4 hours later the PC just crashed to black, no warnings, no BSOD, nothing. It just crashed on it's ar$e and tried to reboot and ever since then it was thrown up a BSOD every single time I try to reboot. Even in safe mode. (for some reason, about 139 reboots ago it did manage to boot up the OS into safe mode, whereby I attempted to uninstall the NVidia display drivers using Add/Remove program and...it crashed to BSOD when it started the process!)

I have tried system restore, repairing, memory tests, all attempts at safe mode booting are failing too. They all fail just after the log in screen. The W7 log in screen loads up fine and I put in my password hit enter then after a varying amount of time (5-60 seconds) the BSOD happens. 1 in every 20 attempts I can see my desktop icons loading before it crashes.

I have had a variety of codes including 0x000000A, 0x000000Ex, 0x0000007x, 0x0000001E and the line 'IRQL_not_less_or_equal...'. I read up on this, but I can't seem to action anything as I can't even get the OS to boot and stay up long enough.

I have updated the BIOS to the latest ASUS release to no effect and everything is set to default. I am at the end of my tether since I use this PC for my work as a photographer, my images are all safe on other drives but all the software I need to edit is on there!

Can anyone offer me any advice? (I don't have a spare graphics card to swap out unfortunately). Thanks in advance

]Thanks Tews - it took another few reboots but eventually managed to get in to safe mode without it crashing. I tried the perfmon / report to generate a system health report but every time I attempted this a dialogue box pops up with 'The Parameter is incorrect' and closes.

I did manage to generate the dump files, attached. I really appreciate yourself, or anyone else taking the time to help out.

Just to add - it's a Full retail 64bit W7 Home premium, fresh install >12 months ago when the PC was put together.

Does anyone have any suggestions please, I know it's only been a couple of hours, but i'm pretty desperate!

I managed to boot into Safe Mode once and removed the main display driver, and usinf MS config I have limited the startup programs to an absolute minimum of just a couple and I have removed all other old software or recently installed software. However I am still unable to boot in the main OS at all and only very infrequently into safe mode - I am now getting error codes: 0X000000A, 0X0000003B & ...1E when trying to boot into anything.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated

Addition: I just booted into Safe Mode with Command prompt and ran a Chkdsk on c:/ and halfway through the check it crashed to BSOD with error 0X000000D1 A second attempt completed successfully.

Holy cow - how many error codes can this this generate?! I am completely at a loss on how to move forward. I have not had 1 issue with this machine since I built it...and now this!

OK - it just booted into windows normally and for the first time in 100 reboots it managed to almost finish loading the system tray icons before in crashed to code 0X0000003B.

ran the .dmp files through MS diagnosis SW and have discovered that ntkrnlmp.exe appears to be a culprit...just trying to work out my next move...

Blimey...I am literally over come with the level of assistance! :sarc:

Never mind, i'm having to reformat a drive and install a fresh copy of W7. I tried uninstalling anti-virus and firewall programs, all the usual mem tests and HD tests, restore, repair, updating the Bios, chipset and GPU drivers all to no avail. Unfortunately I simply don't have the time to find the solution to this mess as I need Lightroom working tonight.

This is the first time i've been completely stumped with windows and it has left a bad taste in my mouth. Time for an Apple, perhaps...?
