I recently had that error on a virtual machine and had to reset windows update. Script Reset Windows Update Agent

On the link I posted download the script as shown in the picture below.



Extract the file ResetWUEng.cmd from the zip file. Right click on it and select run as administrator. On the main page select option 2. If you get the error that it can't rename the folder softwaredistribution reboot your computer and run the script again. Once the script said that it ran successfully try updating windows again. Please note that it might take longer for Windows to scan for updates after you run the tool since it has to rebuild the database however that wasn't the case for me. You will lose your update history, this is normal after a WU reset, but the updates previously installed are still there. Also you will have to hide any updates that you had previously hidden.

I tried the manual downloads, I could install some of the list I got but it still tells me that there are 2 downloads I should install and that fails.

The official language of this forum is english. KB4954518is is a rollup from december so I suspect that it has been superseded. I don't have any other suggestions. Maybe someone else will.
