Dear experts and pros,

since a couple of months I am having trouble with windows update. After not using my desktop for quite a while (probably in the period of June till September or October 2013). I switched on again and wanted to do all the updates that had accumulated. After a series of failed installs I went through and downloaded each KB directly installing soe of them manually.

However some of them turned out to be extremely stubborn. The following do not work neither as automatic or manual win updates nor separately downloaded and installed:
KB2876284
KB2868038
KB2864202
KB2862335
KB2861698
KB2861191
KB2852386
KB2836942

And one of them actually killing my system !?!
KB2872339

This last one does not install via winupdate but when installing manually it actually works in contrast to its KB comrades above. However, it completely corrupts the system producing a blue screen at startup that is not even fixable by secure mode startup as win simply does not start up anymore whatsoever but directly goes BoD. Luckily i just migrated to an SSD and was able to use the old HDD to mirror image and rescue my system a couple of times.

So currently I get the two error codes:
800B0100
and
8024200D

After having read and tried everything Dr. Google and Microsofts support pages were able to come up with (MS tools, hotfixes, I fixit tools, Dos commands to reset the update logs etc.), I am officially at the end of my mediocre level of expertise and kindly ask one of you pros to help me out...

Many thanks in advance!

I'll post a fix protocol when I can get them all together.

Open this folder - there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

And the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

Partial success

First of all many thanks for the superswift answer. I did as you said. I uploaded the CBS.log for you, however the CBS.persist.log has over 53MB so cannot be uploaded here. Do you want it via Dropbox or Google Drive?

I was able to update some of the updates listed above but not all of them.
And I am really hesitant to update the BoD one, that I will certianly only try last.

Seems we are half way there already.

Thanks again for your efforts and help!

EDIT: incredible compression does the trick. persistent log attached now as zip and less than 3MB...
UPDATE: Installed all but the following:
KB2861191 (error: 800B0100)
KB2862335 (error: 800B0100)
KB2872339 (the one which kills my system)
KB2876284 (actually installs but at reboot after the windows loading screen the screen goes blank (black) so no login screen is displayed, however it is here, i can log in, i hear the windows sound logging in etc.. Had to safe mode and unisntall this one again)

Here you go :)

I've uploaded a file - cphab.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive
Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder cphab in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be ONE folders inside it ( Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

That got the little s*ds :)
The CheckSUR report is now clear.
Before doing anything else (if WU hasn't already caught up) we should recheck the SFC scan...

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.

At the Command prompt, type

SFC /SCANNOW

and hit the Enter key

Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.

Copy the CBS.log file created (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log) to your desktop (you can't manipulate it directly) and then compress the copy and upload it to your reply so that I can take a look.

That's the third time in the past two or three weeks that SFC has given an error - but there's been no apparent problem in the standard SFC extract.

I think in this case that the error is caused by this..

It looks as if it may have cleared itself - please try Windows Update again.
Do a manual Check For Updates, and attempt to install only the oldest available update. - what happens?
What error message (if any) do you get?
If that completes OK, try installing the remaining updates.

well mixed results. one of the 4 remaining updates installed and the following result in the error code

KB2872339 (remember this one killed my system completely twice on a full manual install previously)
KB2862335
KB2861191
