Updates in Windows 7 (Firefox, Adobe, Java, etc)

Hi,

Need some assistance here. Every time I try to do an update for Firefox plugins, ext, Java,
Adobe updates, they work to a point. In other words, I get to the dialog box, asking me
to Run, or cancel.

But when I click Run, nothing happens. This occurs whether the update is for Java, Adobe,

Do I have a virus, Malware, or is there something I need to update in my virus protection,
or Firewall.

Thoughts?

Yes, especially Adobe Reader, Shockwave, and Java.
