Sorry for the bother but at my wits end. Looks for updates and never finds any. Originally it had a few updates listed but could never download them, just sit there at 0%. Ran the fix it tool. Attached is screen shot of error. Ran the microsoft tool several times.

SFC checks fine, checkdisc was ran, scanhealth was ran from elevated C prompt reports errors and I believe they are in the CheckSUR file which is also attached along with the CBS log.

Machine runs great otherwise. It seems that the last batch of updates messed it up somehow a month or so ago for lack of a better explanation. I dont have a earlier restore point to fall back on.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the reply Roy,
I uninstalled 11 and it failed to install 2 times. Interesting because this was an excellent running computer till recently.
I have IE 8 now and Windows updates still search for them and never come up with anything and it will go on forever it seems.
Thanks

I had a cloned drive from 5/1/2016 that I just installed. Windows update worked on the original drive I was using at the time. NOW, the cloned drive will not update. Hangs at checking for updates. I will just let it go, may take hours I suspect. I think there is some degree of possibility that windows is trying to make my life miserable for not upgrading to 10

No Proxy Roy.
I caved in and updated to 10 and it was a miserable, time consuming event but I got it going and it seems to work just fine. For a good while boot up took about 2 minutes and found out the 2 display adapters that switch back and forth were conflicted in 10 but I changed something and it boots ok now. I have to say 7 was the best system I ever ran, too bad it takes many hours to get updates at this time. Had that happen before on this and other laptops and the solution seems to be let the machines run all night if need be and they will update. I am tired of messing with that however.
Thanks
Joe
