Updates?

Hi,

When updates are installed on restored back up, the machine needs to be shut down to complete installation....any ideas why?

..because file which are in use cannot be updated except on reboot - this is exactly the same in 'normal running'.

Even a reboot doesn't solve the issue, see a yellow icon on shut down, displaying shut the computer to install updates.

This never happens on a clean install, only if after a full back up is restored, like today got 11 new updates?

In that case, you have a problem with your backup

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

I always check before and after backing up.

Took a screen shot of the 3 files in that folder. The folder displays a lock on the other D partition, here have copied the folder and placed on C active one.

Please don't go off on a tangent - or are you saying that the displayed files are the content of the file you attempted to upload?
If so, they are irrelevant to your updating problem - all are related to the MSRT monthly malware scan done by Windows Update.

Why are you attempting to upload that? - it's not a file, it's a folder. It's the extracted MSRT for whichever month.
Simply delete the folder (you may have to take ownership of it first)
