Solved Updating ASUS 8 Series Motherboard Bios

Not worth it really, it was more of a joke about my failings over on TF.

There's nothing to that BIOS updater really, if you can't follow these instructions you should probably leave well alone.

Personally I don't mess with a working bios.
If I do have a problem that is hard to figure out I will check Asus site for bios updates.
If the new bios Update does not address the problem I'm having I don't update the bios.

To me a bios update must have something I need before I install it.

Different strokes for different folks.

I did need the BIOS update to make my motherboard compliant with Devil's Canyon otherwise I couldn't install the i7-4790k. If I weren't planning on that upgrade Jack I'd have left it well alone.

My post was kind of anybody reading this thread here is some information.

My last motherboard in my specs had bios for the cpu when bought. Asus lied.
I had to installed a older cpu, update the bios and then put the new cpu back on the motherboard. A friend had the older cpu I could use just for doing this.

If you are interested a little note
If one has a 4820-k the bios is 4210
If one has a 4820-E the bios is 4502 which is for Xeon.
They no longer list the 4820-E Intel cpu for my motherboard but they did before they had problems.

I RMA the motherboard and got one back with the Xeon 4502 bios and everything works great. So I really do know why you updated bios to match your cpu.
Your update went a lot smoother than mine.

Sorry Jack, I misunderstood.

I do completely agree with you on the fact that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. That's why I posted here first as I haven't flashed a BIOS in years and would rather get the experts' input before going ahead. It wasn't a nice experience flashing it as I was sure something would go wrong but at least I'm comfortable with it now.

I have updated my post #24 with some information. Kind of neat information.

Because I got the new latest greatest cpu Asus wasn't ready for the intel 4820-E.
