Updating fresh install of Windows 7 in 2020?

Now that support for Windows 7 is over, what's the best method of updating a fresh install of Windows 7? Hopefully something that doesn't include the bad updates like the W10 nagware I remember they rolled out.

If you have already installed win7, simplix updatepack is by far the best way to go.

I had to reset a 2011 Gateway desktop with Win 7 x64 Home Premium. It's up and running and back to factory install without SP1. Hoping this (Simplix Update) method works for a Win 7 install that does NOT yet have SP1 installed?


Currently downloading the Simplix update. If I need to install SP1 first and then the Simplix Update I'd appreciate a heads up!

There is a more recent one than the previous link.

This downloader will always download the most recent just d/l it and run it to get the latest packhttps://update7.simplix.info/UpdatePack7R2.exe

Finally finished the download and ran the installer but it said SP1 is required. So Im about to download that...


Dont know if it's better to dl the msu or exe... so i picked exe. Here's the dl link Im using... hoping its the right one...

Made progress, got SP1 installed. Will resume in the morning trying to install the Update Pack.
