Upgrade CPU?

IHope this is right sub forum to post this.

I have a 2 month old Toshiba T135 Satellite. (See system specs) My CPU has been holding my WEI to 2.9 since the beginning. All bloatware has been removed. Now, I am considering upgrading to a Intel I5 or I7 CPU. I woiuld like to know:
  1. This will mean a change of the MOBO also, yes?
  2. Should I have a Toshiba Service Facility do the work, if I decide it is worth it?
  3. Will this upgrade cause any change in my HD? Or, will everything on the HD remain the same.
  4. This will cause some extra battery drain, yes?
  5. And finally, will this upgrade from an Intel U2700 CPU to an I5 or I7 give me much gain in operating speed? I guess the question is: "is it worth it?"
Thanks for all the help I have come to expect from the Windows 7 Forum! It's been great!

I would not do that because.

a) you will get a terrible heat problem
b) your battery life will be counted in minutes, not hours. The U series processors were designed for low consumption.
c) I did not check the mobo, but my guess would be it is not designed for the I-processors
d) changing a CPU in a laptop is not an easy task.
e) your overall performance gain may be marginal becausee the main bottleneck for performance is the disk.

I suggest you replace your HDD with a SSD. That is an easy 2 minute operation and will probably do more for performance than a new CPU.

Excellent post Wolfgang
lodoblanco, don't get so hung up on WEI. It is an indication, but it is relative. As whs indicated, the lowest score is not necessarily the action point.
