These are the legal rules:

If you buy an upgrade DVD you can do a clean install, but you will only have the upgraded OS after the install.

If you buy the full version, and dual boot, you can have both.

Each edition comes with a 64 and 32 bit DVD. To upgrade you must use the DVD of the edition that you want to upgrade to.

You may need to modify the install disk a little:

You can avoid .iso utilities if you prepare a bootable USB flash drive:

Use a USB Key to Install Windows 7—Even on a Netbook

(None of this requires serious hacking skills.)

Unfortunately Enterprise uses a Volume Licensing scheme so it can't be unlocked in the retail version installer since it isn't included.

If you have the Enterprise 90 day trial version you can still download it from the MS website.

This sounds very strange. If you have enterprise version installed, obviously everything including architecture (32 bit or 64 bit), upgrade policies and upgrade methodology would be decided by the company IT department.

So, howcome you're getting to decide? And that too with a pro disk???!!!

Something else you might want to consider is that Windows 7 Ultimate is the same as Enterprise, except Ultimate is licensed for home users (which Enterprise is not).
