From some reason, when I go to do an upgrade install from vista business 32bit to 7 professional 32bit I recieve an error message saying that you cant do an upgrade install from XP to 7?? Really stumped about this, I think I have read through just about every topic but to no avail.

Doing a clean install is not an option as I have far to many programs and no installation cd's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I thought for a brief moment for you what might help.

Simplest solution to try first is a system file check to ensure all of them are Vista. Any problematic ones, corrupted ones or incorrect versions found have a good chance of automatically being fixed. This may then allow upgrade install.

Worth a shot, for sure, as it's simple enough.

Open an elevated command prompt, copy and paste the following, then hit enter:

sfc /scannow

Wild idea can you do a repair/upgrade of Vista? Check it's not something daft like an Anti Virus prog.

Thank you for the replies! Unfortunatley the sfc didn't find or fix any issues. Same goes for the repair option when booting from the vista disk.

It looks like im gonna have to bite the bullet and do a clean install, all is not lost though as i now have the option of upgrading to 64bit 7 :D

Thanks again for your help!
