Upgrade From W7 Beta RC??

Will the Windows 7 upgrade allow me to upgrade from Windows 7 Beta RC???

Beta= version 7000 no should already have timed out
RC=7100 yes. as long as its the same version. 7100 is ultimate, you would then need 7600 ultimate. anything else wont work

I assume when you say it requires 7600 ultimate to upgrade, you are referring specifically to an "in-place upgrade". Shouldn't I still be able to use a 7600 Professional Upgrade disc to do a custom install over the RC? Just like if I was running Vista Ultimate 32-bit, upgrading to Win7 Ultimate 64-bit, I couldn't do an in-place upgrade with the upgrade disc, but I could still use the upgrade disc to do a custom install.

I am almost certain what I said above is in fact the reality of the situation. My real question is this. If I choose to use my Win7 Upgrade disc to upgrade my machine currently running the RC, when, inevitably, sometime in the future (say 1 year from now), I decide to do a clean install, will I be able to, at that time, install a old copy of XP I have, then upgrade that with my Win7 upgrade. What I am asking is, will upgrading from the RC forever tie my Upgrade copy of Win7 to that RC cd-key, or will I be able to use another older Windows version as the "base OS" of a future upgrade when the RC will have long-since expired?

Thanks!

So I can upgrade a Vista Home to Windows 7 Home.

But I cant upgrade from Windows 7 Beta RC to Windows 7 Professional???

I would have to buy Windows 7 Ultimate in order to activate Windows 7 on my machine??

Where is the pat on the back from Microsoft saying, "Thank you for Beta testing Windows 7, please enjoy using it by activating it with this reduced price activation key."

Why even bother testing, where is the incentive?!?!

You can't do an in-place upgrade from 7100 ultimate to the RTM ultimate, probably for safety reasons to keep the install pure. But 7100 RC is a qualifying OS to use the Upgrade version of the DVD, whether it is professional or whatever(no in-place upgrades).

Which words are used can get confusing in this current release.

It is confusing. I gather that if I change W7 RC from thinking its an ultimate version (via a registry hack) I can do an in-place-upgrade.

Am I correct??

This upgrade thing is wack!!!

I got Windows 7 Beta RC to upgrade in-place to Windows 7 Professional without a hitch!! Also activated with no issues!!!
