Upgrade from XP to Win 7

Quick question: I recently purchased a digital download of Windows 7 upgrade (from digitalriver). I downloaded two files: one was a setup file intended to be ran in my current windows. The other is an ISO image that must be burned. Thing is, I want to install windows 7 and format my entire compute prior to the upgrade so I am going to need to boot into the installation. My question (finally) is: do I need to just burn the ISO to a DVD and then restart my computer, booting into the installation setup?

Yes, burn the .iso with Free ImgBurn software :D 4x speed with verify on! ;)

problems...

I burned the ISO image to a DVD and restarted my computer. It wouldnt boot from the DVD. Went into boot options to check priorities. I think it had "diskette" as first priority and "hard drive" or something as second and then "optical drive" as third. Can't tell how to enable booting from the DVD....

Any thoughts?

Optical drive set as first boot, Hard drive Second, floppy, last......

Set the Optical Drive as the the first to boot. Restart the computer with the dvd in the drive and the installation will begin.

You don't actually need a physical disk. If you use a virtual CD driver (like magiciso) you will be able to do what you want.

Once again, thank you all for the prompt reply. I simply didn't realize that optical drive referred to the dvd/cd drive. Was able to boot with dvd easily.
