upgrade to windows 7

Hi! I' m new here and i have a very important question.

I own an Acer Aspire 7720g and according to acer my laptop is not eligible for an upgrade to windows 7: Windows® 7 Upgrade Offer

So, can i upgrade to windows 7? Has anybody tried it?

jluisc - just because you've installed it on one laptop, it doesn't mean that someone else will be able to install it on something completely different! it depends on whether acer have drivers available.

@constantine - the acer upgrade offer is just a marketing thing - if you have one of the new models listed on that page, you are eligible for a free upgrade. it isn't a compatability list. so, try it and see!

You can also run the Upgrade Advisor: Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor
it is not absolute, I had a case it said it was alright and I coudl never install Win 7 x64. But I think it will tell you in case you have a definite problem.

I would be very very surprised if you couldn't install some version/platform of Windows 7 on any computer within the last 3 years or newer.

I would be too but you never know what could possibly go wrong (especially with Microsoft). That eligibility list i showed you got me a bit worried but mickey megabyte is probably right..it's just a marketing thing.

Thank you all for your responses! I' ll try the dual-boot configuration that mickey megabyte suggested and let you know.
