Welcome to the Forum

You can do it very easily. Just go to control panel and click on anytime upgrade. You do not need a DVD. An instant upgrade will be performed and you will have the new OS. I do suggest that you back up, worse case scenario, is that things go wrong and you will lose important documents. If you repost your question, something like "Can I speed up...etc. We can help you. I already have a few suggestions. If you repost you will get many suggtions and not just mine.

Good Luck

Where did you see that the Pro version is slower than Ultimate? As far as I know, that's complete nonsense.

I believe that the code base is the same for all versions. There are differences in features. It'd be unusual for any of them to affect performance on most PCs. The maximum memory Home Premium X64 supports is 16GB. (For any 32 bit version, it's 4GB.) For Pro and Ultimate, I think it's 128GB. You also need Pro or Ultimate to support two CPU sockets. (That's physical sockets, not cores.)

Unless you need Bitlocker or multi-language support, don't waste your money.

I agree with Bobkn. Those are basically the only two additional features for a lot more money. As I said, lets try to rectify your speed problem with what you have.

it is nonsense. the only difference between versions is a few features. for most users home premium is all they will ever need.
