Solved Upgraded MUTE PC

I have just completed putting a PC together, but I get no sound.
Using Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1.
Here are some images that show my confusion.

The drivers were obtained from the motherboard's website.
Motherboards - SABERTOOTH X58

I purchased new speakers, but...

I assure you the speakers are connected.
Since I am using the onboard audio system, there are no cables involved less the speaker cable.
The speaker power is turned ON.

The only this that come to mind is there might be a BIOS setting that needs to be set, but I am a newbie where BIOS settings are concerned.

If this is a BIOS issue, please specify where in the BIOS I need to go to make the adjustment.

If this is not a BIOS issue, then I am lost. I need a Sound expert. No pun intended.

If you are using typical "computer" speakers, the "Speakers" need to be set as the Default Audio Playback Device.

What is the speakers you are using? Standard 2.1 or 2 speaker analog computer speakers need to be connected to the GREEN speaker jack.

The S/PDIF is a digital output (normally used to connect to some other audio system, such as a TV surround sound system).

The speakers are Gigaware 2.0 Multimedia Speakers.

Speaker cable is connected to the Green port.

Unable to make the Speakers default, because they are not selectable, probably due to Windows thinking they are not connected as indicated in the Sound window image.

Have you tried the front panel headphone jack? Either with a headphone or you can connect the speakers to the headphone jack to see if they work there.

If nothing works, try the uninstall/reinstall of the RealTek. Go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the RealTek and then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound. If there were some type of corruption between the sound and Windows this usually fixes it.

I've tried the front panel, but the headphone port did not work, probably because the headphones are not selectable in the Sound window.

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. No joy.

Uninstall/Reinstall the drivers is not what I asked. I asked you to uninstall the device in the Device Manager (but do not uninstall the drivers).

Also and uninstall/reinstall of the drivers without restarting can result in the same problem. If you want to uninstall/reinstall, you need to uninstall, restart the PC and then do an Install.

The audio driver on the ASUS web site has a 2010 date. There is a newer version available directly from RealTek.

Also, if you are not using the HDMI output, disable the NVIDIA HDMI audio in the Device Manager. That will not (should not) affect the RealTek sound and the hardware but it will help with any potential confusion while troubleshooting.

One other thought, since this was a custom built system. Check the front panel headphone/mic connection to the motherboard. Make sure you have it connected properly and you should be using the HD Audio connector rather than the AC97 connector. Another possibility, disconnect the front panel connection and see if the rear ports work.
