Upgraded to 7 Ult...still can't change background

I went from Windows 7 Starter to Ultimtate...I'm STILL having problems with changing the background, but I'm also having problems with the screen saver settings not saving. ANY ideas?

How did you upgrade to Ultimate? You say you are still having problems, does that mean you had the same problems with Win 7 start up? If so have you ever been able to change the background? What method are you trying to change it?

Try going to the command prompt> start>search programs and files> type cmd then enter then type sfc /scannow then enter again, let the process run until complete. That may help fix any files which may have been corrupted during the upgrade.

Ran the scan, it DID fix a couple of things, but didn't fix the background problem. I ended up downloading some Windows 7 Starter wallpaper changing program, that works, so I'm happy for now...but I'd like to figure out what the problem is in the long run

I would ask again:

When I first heard that Win 7 Start. didn't have personalization settings, I found programs that were written to be able to change the background, but they wouldn't work. Now, they work for whatever reason, but right-clicking and going to my personalization settings won't let me change the background OR the screensaver. I used the Windows Anytime Upgrade, as my laptop does not have a CD drive. It's not even a really big deal, more of a preference than anything else. Just think it's stupid that Microsoft took away options for me.
