upgrading cpu & RAM

greetings earthlings, i want to buy a Intel i5 2500k core cpu and a GSkill RAM 4GB (2x2GB), can i upgrade in the future to say an Intel i7 core 2600k and a GSkill 8GB (or more RAM)? and for that matter a motherboard and the graphics card too? thank you

You can upgrade to more RAM and a faster processor only if your motherboard supports it.

If you upgrade your motherboard, you'll have to install Windows again (most likely, anyway).

You can always install a different video card.

Probably. The i5-2500K is a socket 1155, so is the 2600k.

Cheap motherboards sometimes only have two memory slots. Even so, they will take 8gb of RAM. However, buying a better motherboard is usually a better idea. Such motherboards come with 4 memory slots and will usually take up to 32gb of RAM.

From experience, you will need better cooling for the I7. It's not a major issue though.

I would recommend you check the motherboard website for memory compatability list and also the gskill website for the chipset/motheboard compatability.

The difference between 4gb and 8gb these days is like $15 - $20. Why don't you go for 8gb now? (At least here in Aus it is).

You should have no problems upgrading your graphics card, unless you have a low end power supply (500W or less). These days with a good graphics card you might want to consider starting your power supply at 650W, with 2 x PCI connectors for the card.
