A quick check shows that board can do these processors:
AMD Athlon 64 FX/ Athlon 64/ Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core/ Sempron processor
The Athlon64 FX being the best one.

You will have to teach me how you are getting a Core 2 Duo to run on that motherboard.

I am looking at your "My System Specs" and seeing that you are running a Core 2 Duo on an ASUS P5LP-LE motherboard.

If you have this new motherboard and are thinking about replacing the Asus motherboard and are looking for a processor for it then you should make that clear.

If you are working on a second computer then you should make that clear.

Assuming this is the correct board,

ECS Web Site

then the best it can take is the AM2 Athlon 64 x2 6000+,

You're welcome.

In fact, according to the website, my m/b only supports the 89W version, but is quite happily running with the 125W version (this was a m/b and CPU bundle).

This is what my m/b supports. Note that the processor I have installed was the fastest at the time, and that faster processors have since been added.
