[FONT=&quot]Howdy, Foax! I just performed an upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7. Despite backing up all documents and settings to an external drive for subsequent, selective reinstallation, the upgrade appears not to have wiped and reformatted my C drive as I’d hoped, but to have ignored all files and folders on that drive, which remains 95% full. Despite the drive’s bloated status, opening My Documents in Win 7 reveals no files or folders. Can any tell me what happened, and how to access and/or remove these old files/folders?

Sounds like your really did an upgrade. You must chose the clean install method. Am I right? If so, start over and chose clean install. If not delete your windows.old folder with a disk clean up
Good luck.

Since you went to all the trouble of backing up (smart choice) consider booting from the Win7 installer and doing the cleanest install of all: Custom using Advanced drive tools to format the drive.

Did the install create a windows.old folder? If so, it contains all the files from your old installation.

You can delete it using the disk cleanup system toll (under Accessories/System Tools).
