Hi.
So a couple of questions for those of us on the RC who've ordered the Retail. If we spend the time and apply the various tweaks, install our programs and everything on the RC, will the upgrade process be seamless or should we just wait? I would hate to go back to apply all the tweaks I've done.

It is not recommended to try to upgrade from RC to RTM. While theoretically possible, it is not supported.

And what do you mean by "...should we just wait"? Wait for what?

If you are upgrading from RC Ultimate to Rtm Ultimate it is possible. If a lesser version than Ultimate, not possible. Clean Install.

I did a 'clean' install from RC ultimate to RTM ultimate. Even tho' I did several tweaks and downloaded a variety of programs.... I just didn't want to take any chances.

Yeah I've read in most places that a clean install is best. So I will just have to wait for the retail, do a clean install and apply my tweaks.

I upgraded from RC ultimate to RTM ultimate. Went pretty well. I still might do the whole thing over as a clean install someday, but for now, I'm satisfied with how it's performing.

Yeah, I was happy with how it went, pretty easy once you use the hack. One DVD all versions, Upgrade your RTM, Trial for 120 days « Win7Blog

Licencing is a the real issue here. Will the upgrade licence work if you are using the 30 day trial? I used a full key from technet.
I think it will work, but not from the 30 day trial. IIRC, one needs an activated RC to upgrade from. I think they (MS) did this as a way of rewarding people who helped MS by using (testing) the RC.
