If someone upgrades from Vista to W7, do the programs from Vista remain intact? Or must they all be reinstalled after the upgrade?

well it is generally recommended on here you do a clean (custom) install rather than an upgrade, but to answer your question, they will reain in place after an upgrade

Thank you for that quick answer! Much appreciated. :) I'm in the process of converting a friend who uses Vista to come over to the "Bright" Side! :)

glad to hear it, make sure the data is backed up before you do the upgrade, we see numerous problems with upgrade installs on here, and its best to be safe than sorry

If you decide to do an in-place upgrade, here's a few points to remember.

It may seem easier to do the upgrade, as to not have to reinstall programs. Just about everyone here, agrees, long term it will cost you time if you do not do a clean install now.
