you wouldnt have to change anything, it would work fine.

the main question is your powersupply, what wattage is it rated to? I think the gtx 760 recommends a 500w or above, but different card makers quote differences.

the weakest link in your pc will become your cpu which will bottleneck the system, but youll still be fine playing games, maybe not at their maximum settings.

There's also no need for the 4GB version if you're using one 1080p monitor, the 2GB version will be plenty.

Thanks boozad, I made a mistake on with 1080p monitor, I actually have a samsung 22" resolution of 1680x1050. So the 2GB will be okay to use for high display settings on games?
Dont want to spend an extra $$ on a 4GB if it is going to be useless on my 1680x1050 monitor.

Yeah the 2GB version will be more than enough for that resolution, the 4GB version would be wasted.

Since the price difference is only $30 I would buy the 4GB version. If you add a 2nd monitor or buy a larger monitor those extra 2GBs will come in handy. To me for 30 bucks it's well worth buying the 4GB 760. YMMV!

I would google "Q9400 and GTX 760" before I bought any of the 700-series GPUs though. It's possible the microarchitecture is so old that it won't saturate a modern GPU. I doubt you'll have any problems because it's a good, quad-core processor, but it's worth looking into before you spend the money.
