Upgrading Motherboard - Want To Avoid Reinstalling Windows 7

Hey there,

I was wondering if you could help me.

I am going to be in the process of upgrading my motherboard as well as my CPU and GPU, However I've only just seen that you need to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Is there an option to not have to clean install? There's a lot of settings and programs that I don't want to have to reset and reinstall.

Below are the specifications of my upgrade.

Motherboard: Asus Rampage II Extreme ---> Asus X99 Deluxe

CPU: i7 920 ---> i7 5820k

GPU: Gainward GTX260 Golden Sample ---> MSI GTX970 100ME

Any help would be much appreciated.

Backup your data just in case.

GPU no problem, but CPU/mobo combo (CPU alone may be ok) normally mean a clean install.

I would do a Clean Install if it was my computer but here is a tutorial by Kaktussoft that might do what you want. Take a good slow read.

Works fine. Just follow the steps and after adjust make sure you monitor the drivers swapping out, or if they don't reboot the PC.
