Does Windows 7 Ultimate have a utility that will allow me to upgrade my hard drive? I want to copy my installation from the old drive to a new drive and then take the old drive out of the PC? I don't want to have to make an image then reinstall the image to the new drive.
I know that there is software that can do this but if Windows does it I would like to keep to a minimum the amount of software I have installed.
If not what is highly rated software that does this task?
I like to do clean installs regularly but I don't like to have to make new images when I change how I have my system or have to do a lot of software installs after I re-image my drive.
I am going to do a clean install to my internal drive and an identical install to a USB drive that I can run Windows from. The purpose is this, Windows installation evolves with time, new settings, configurations, and software installation. An Image file is fairly static, there is little change that can be made to it, you may be able to delete or copy a file but you cannot change systems configuration, install or uninstall software to the image. With Windows install to a bootable USB drive I can decide to add any settings, configurations, or software installation to it that I like on the internal drive after a trail period.
