Upgrading to an ssd using recovery media/fresh install

Hi, everyone. This my first post, so I'm excited. Anyway, I am about to upgrade my 1TB hdd with a samsung 550 pro 512gb. I plan to swap the hdd with the ssd and then boot to my usb recovery stick. My question us this : will my laptop be able to recognize the new ssd to use for the installation? I have an hp encvy 15 inch slim quad
