URGENT | Windows 7 desktop all black after removing "Arcade Giant"

hi guys,

PC was running fine, i just did a scan with antimalware malwarebytes and he found this "non-malware" Arcade Giant, i went ahead and quaratined all items.

when i restarted the PC, the desktop didnt load and it was stuck on black screen and nothing loaded

I managed to go into task manager and open chrome there by launching the process manually. although i cannot launch "explorer.exe"

i can open regedit.exe, etc..

any ideas? i need to get on with work and this is just fabulous.

i also scanned the pc with another program for removing malware and he found nothing.

thanks
Gabrio

actually around a minute after the black screen i get the following:

There was a problem starting

c:\users\MYUSER\AppData\Local\ARCADE~1\AgHelp.dll

The specified module couldnt be found

actually i dont understand how this can lock the desktop loading at all.

thanks

ok something else... i was killing processes to see if things improve...

i killed "RunOnce Wrapper" and once i kill that one, the desktop loads and PC seems to load normally...

only thing i did install earlier was this program from Download.com which installed a program called blink browser, which i uninstalled with the uninstaller... maybe is some leftovers of that?

thanks

SOLVED.

problem was a "RunOnce" entry that was in the startup menu calling on boot, deleted it with CC cleaner, did the trick! these malware are really nasty!!!!

I'd also run a full scan with Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware
then check System files over with SFC /SCANNOW Command to make sure you're clean.

I wouldn't download anything from Download.com or CNET because they allow adware to be bundled into the downloaders which can be harmful and difficult to remove. If there isn't a download on the actual software site itself then check FileHippo.

thanks man, will give them a run through with SUPERAntiSpyware and SFC /SCANNOW - just in case.

Be sure to include Malwarebytes full scan which is the baseline we use here for possible more serious Malware.

SAS is very good for getting into the Registry to root out spyware and adware leftovers. If it finds any it will ask you to uninstall them first.
