Usable Ram and game performence

another Question in the long ling of questions regarding usable ram in windows 7 32, i have 4 gig ram and of course the usable ram is 2.99 my graphics card is 1 gig i was wondering will the computer still perform at 4 gig even though 1 gig of ram is dedicated elsewhere? the computer is pretty high performence core i7 geforce 230 1 GB, its just that a game ive ordered has reccomended 4GB will it run as well (napoleon total war)

If the card has shared memory, it will use some of your RAM. That will be unavailable for the OS. In effect, you will have that much less RAM.

That's the beauty of a GFX card with onboard memory; it doesn't use the OS's memory.

I have never played the game, so I don't know how demanding it is, but I see the game does recommend 4GB RAM. You only have 3.

You can take a gamble and hope the game runs on 3GB or RAM, but you do not have the minimum recommended specs.

If he has the GT230 then he has a dedicated card with 1GB of onboard memory.
He exceeds minimum specs though,

There is difference between minimum and recommended specs:
the first is required for the game to run, the second is for playing without issues (speed problems, often).

No, it will not. For all the game knows, you have 3GB of RAM.
