i have just received a 2nd hand laptop it has 100gb , theres no films or music installed on it but it says theres 38 gb used up , i have checked the hard drive and still cant find were this has been used , any help would be good thanks

You dont say what OS it has installed! But double click the "C" drive and all the details should show. Also have a look to see how many restore points are shown as if you have Vista that had a habit of storing lots of restore points and that eats disc space!

You might see if going through each option in the tutorial below may be able to help you find out where the space went to and free it up if it's not needed.

Is that tutorial only for Win 7? I have a feeling that the laptop in question has an earlier OS. Might be wrong though

Most of it can also be applied in Vista as well, but the OP does have Windows 7 in their specs. Not sure if that's for the laptop though.

I just guessed at it as the OP said that he had "just received a second hand laptop" That's what made me think it was an older model. I don't think this is the PC that is noted in the OP's specs. We will, no doubt, see in the fullness f time!
